Park Slope Deja Vu

We are well underway on a renovation of this one-family house in Park Slope. It is on the same block as the other Park Slope Brownstone we have featured on the website and was nearly identical in all of its details. The scope of this project is to add a new fireplace on the parlor level, a deck in the rear, a new kitchen at the parlor, a new master bath and central air. The master bathroom will feature a skylight in the shower with tile all the way up the skylight well to the glass.

Going Up in Greenwood

After encountering and remedying some existing structural problems with the building, we have begun framing a new story on top of this Greenwood Heights townhouse. Zoning allows for only 8′-0″ ceilings at the addition on the front-side of the building (where there will be a bedroom) but we will have more than 13′ of height at the back where there will be a light-filled home office. We have also enlarged the masonry opening on the back of the parlor level for a wall of doors and windows leading from the kitchen to the deck. Stay tuned!

Eastside Kitchen and ‘Butler’s Pantry’

The last few details, odds and ends and furniture deliveries are taking place in this Eastside co-op apartment. We helped the clients replace the kitchen cabinets, counters, appliances, flooring and other finishes and add a very usable ‘butler’s pantry’ of stock-sized cabinetry off of the kitchen. Below are ‘before’ and ‘after’ photos:

Connecticut House

In the 1980s a family room was added to the back of this historical Connecticut house. The addition has a rather low ceiling and a different floor height from the original house. As this is the space where the family will likely be spending most of their time, we have proposed making this a double height space as part of an addition and renovation. The two different floor heights are mediated by a generous open stair which helps to join the old and new portions of the house in a more seamless transition.

Brooklyn Heights Apartment Combination

We are in the early stages of planning a connection between two apartments on two separate floors with a staircase that also acts as a room divider and storage unit.
