Bed-Stuy Landmarked Renovation

Built in 1872, this landmarked Italianate brownstone retained many of its original features — including marble mantels, ornate wedding cake moldings, and lattice-patterned hardwood floors. The owners were committed to preserving these historic details while making the space more functional for their family.

Originally a two-family house, the property was previously converted into a three-family with a rear addition at the garden and parlor. The renovation kept the garden as an apartment unit but removed the addition to reclaim outdoor space, and reconfigured the upper floors into a single-family residence.

The parlor floor stays true to its original layout, preserving the intricate woodwork, moldings, and elaborate marble mantel. A new kitchen was added at the back of the parlor with a rear deck, and a powder room, camouflaged as cabinetry beside a cozy breakfast nook.
Upstairs, the Primary Bathroom features a wet room clad in bright Zellige tile, adding a playful touch to the space.
